Woo Lim Jeong Korean BBQ Restaurant, Sri Hartamas

Whenever we feel like authentic Korean food, we know exactly which place to go, Woo Lim Jeong Korean BBQ Restaurant.

We have been coming to this place about 3 years ago when we were driving around Hartamas craving Korean and was lucky enough to stumble upon this little restaurant. Situated on the first floor in the row of shops opposite where Uncle don used to be, you enter the restaurant greeted by the host who will bow and lead you to the table. Plus the clientele is always Korean people, which means, this really is THE place to be eating Korean.

We got in and since it was just the 2 of us, we opted for the dinner set which pretty much covers everything you will need for a complete Korean BBQ meal.

Like any typical Korean meal, you are presented with all the side dishes which if not controlled will side track your appetite for the main meal. (Its FREE to refill!!!!). The side dishes vary everytime we go, but one of my favorites is the caramelized ikan bilis. Ooo..so nice.

The BBQ are all done using a charcoal fire and not those usual gas stoves. The waiter will come carrying a pot of burning charcoal to place in the stove located in the middle of the table and the flame is controlled by a fan underneath the stove.

First was one of our favorite meats, pork neck. Very tender and not too fatty but just enough fat for flavouring. The meat comes unseasoned, only with a little chopped parsley on the top and is placed on the super hot BBQ grill. You can see the little sparks flying out.

The waiter does ALL the cooking for you, so you don’t have to move a finger. Just wait. Each serve of meat comes with a side of golden mushrooms and also a slice off a whole onion. Once he transfers the meat unto a new grill it means it is time to dig in.

You eat the meal with lettuce and some condiments like sliced garlic (which you can also grill), the onions, mushrooms and also some seasoning and sauce. Just wrap the meat in the lettuce and chuck everything else in it, and munch. Very healthy and need I mention that the ingredients are top notch.

Next meat on the menu was steak. The steak was marinated so it had more flavour to it. Once again it was BBQ and served to us by the waiter.

The set also comes with a bowl of Bibimbap, mixed by the waiter. LoL.It comes piping hot so be careful. You have to wait for awhile to let it cool. Very tasty, and the rice is very soft and fluffy.

Last to the meal was our soup. I can’t remember the actual name of this soup, it could have been kimchi soup, cause it tasted abit spicy and sour. It had alot of fresh vegetables thrown into it.

Towards the end of our meal, the hosts comes with another plate, this time its kimchi pancake and tells us its on the house. (Thats why we love coming here). As the name goes, this is a savoury pancake with the strong kimchi flavour blended in together with some spring onions and red chillies. They sometimes serve this as a side dish as well, but tinier versions ;)

Our total bill for this set came up to RM80+ which is not bad, judging from the amount of food, as well as the superb customer service they provided. All M’sian restaurants should emulate the service this place provides. I’ve never been let down in my 3 years eating here. And they even walk you to the lift and press the lift button for you when you head back. Such service is unheard of. So, come an experience it yourself and let us know what you think.

Just went to this restaurant for lunch, very authentic, has the best Galbi Tang I ever had in Malaysia, and their Daeji Bulgogi is very nice as well. Well recommended.

I’ve been going to Ajussi Woo Lim Jeong when they first started with my friends. Love the food there especially the Sundube Jigge (Soft Tofu Soup).. absolute comfort food. I have some Korean colleagues that have eaten there and said that some of the food is better then what they usually get back in Korea.
