Here at Feedmelah.com, we’ve been asking ourselves, what actually IS a Christmas dinner? What types of food do you usually serve to family and friends during Christmas parties?

We know that in Malaysia, if you tell someone to come to a pot luck dinner, regardless of the ocassion, there will always be somebody who brings satay, KFC, pizza… but that’s not Christmas food.

So we ask everyone out there, what dishes do you consider suitable for a Christmas dinner? Here’s some of what we came up with.

Roast Turkey
Chicken Pie
Mince Pies
Lasagna
Cesar’s Salad
Eggnog
Yule Log Cake

superheroes: yeah mine pie, I forgot about that… thx! What are you guys gonna do for christmas dinner?

Demsi: trifle sounds so familiar… sounds like something to do with intestines. roast lamb shoulder takes damn long to make, I have tried making it… unless you have a pressure cooker.

Might be making a beer beef stew… that should be interesting. haha.

Merry Christmas to you both and your families!

Roast lamb don’t need pressure cooker. Seal it then dump it in the oven I like my lamb PINK … Leg of Lamb is a little hard and defrosting takes a very long time.

Beef stew is pretty straight forward. I’d always use wine in my cooking, nvr tried beer before hahahaha

btw Trifle is a dessert …

Demsi: will take quite a while to cook in the oven won’t it? defrosting takes super ages especially right out the freezer…

I also never tried beer beef stew before… haha. thought it would be something nice to have a go at.

ian: your right, i did forget mashed potatoes! Buttered rice too…

Patricia: brandy butter? on christmas pudding? sounds good… does the brandy butter have brown sugar in it to make it sweet? or is it just brandy and butter?

For me i’ll take out the meat out of the freezer at night and put it out till morning. Most of it will be defrosted … Directly taking out from the freezer not only it will take very long to cook but your gonna overcook the top part of the meat =)

Other alternative DEBONE it before putting it in .. then you can roll it with some stuffing. WOW just talking about it’s making me damn hungry =)

Btw sorry i couldn’t make it to your Christmas dinner. I have wedding to attend … Enjoy your self =)
