My youngest brother woke me up at the ungodly hour of 9.30am to send him to his friend’s house in Shah Alam the other day. Seeing as I had watched a bit of football the night before, I was kind of zombified driving there and back.
But… since I was up in time for breakfast, I thought, a freshly made roti canai would be great right about now. Problem was, it was the second day of Hari Raya, and mostly all the mamaks in that part of Shah Alam were closed.
So guess where I ended up heading?

I don’t know what it is about waking up early and thinking, hey! I can make it for McDonalds breakfast!
I got myself one serving of hotcakes (RM5.55) and asked the cashier lady for some extra maple syrup… Mmm… sugary goodness.
I’m not sure why, but until recently, they didn’t sell hotcakes (pancakes) at McDonalds in Malaysia. I remember being in the same situation (i.e. awake before 10.30a.m) and asking the cashier at the McDonalds in Centrepoint, Bandar Utama for some hotcakes.
She looked at me as if I were some crazy lunatic.
But now that I managed to get my hands on some, I remember just how nice they tasted. Some thick fluffy pancakes, covered in whipped butter and a good splash of maple syrup. How could you not love it?
And no, I didn’t get a sugar high later.
