The Deli is situated in Mi Casa All Suite Hotel in the heart of Kuala Lumpur along Jalan Ampang. Who would have thought to find a quaint little ‘Deli’ in the middle of the city in a suite hotel? We certainly didn’t. We were invited to this place for a review by our friend April Yim. Thanks babe.
We were greeted by the menu on the wall and instantly our mouth started to water on the good food that will await us. The Deli is exactly like its name, a little deli cafe set aside in the hotel with bain maries and little quaint tables to sit on.
The sandwhiches here are amazing. There was the grilled beef sandwhich which consisted of succulent lean beef slices, on fresh rocked served between two pieces of warm ciabatta bread. It comes with it’s own gravy which you must pour on the beef slices before you bite in. Delicious.
Then there’s the salmon gravlax sandwhich which was served on baguette. Every sandwhich comes with a choice of wholemeal, baguette or ciabatta bread.
For our wholemeal sandwhich we had chicken pate, pickles and green. It was an interesting sandwhich, though i’m not a big fan of chicken pate, I still ate quite abit
. All the dishes came with fries as well which are REAL fries cut from potatoes, not those cheap ones you buy in bulk in the supermarket.
We also had the stir fried mushrooms with poach egg sandwhich. The poach egg was done to a perfection. Poke the egg and all the yolk just flows out..mmm.
Then there was the Caesar salad. Fresh green lettuce, bacon bits, croutons, parmesan cheese and of course another perfectly poached egg. We were all pretty impressed with the poach egg consistency, it was done to perfection..again.
The pasta of the day was Lamb Shank and Fettucine. The lamb was very tender and it came with baby spinach. Nice dish to have for lunch.
And my favourite among all favourites, the French Onion Soup which came in individual soup goblet. This had no beef stock and the sweetness of the onions were so enhanced for some reason and topped up with slices of baguette coated with melted cheese. You just can’t ask for me. I wanted another bowl.
Caramel Swiss Roll
Mix Fruit Swiss Roll
Green Tea Swiss Roll topped with red bean paste.
Chocolate Swiss Roll
The apple tart was a hit with everyone. It was caramelized on the outside so it was pretty sweet but it was balanced the tartness of the apple slices. It also came with a scoop of their homemade vanilla ice cream.
We also tried the Pithivier, which was something new. It was kinda like a mini pie, with filling inside and the crust was sweet and crumbly.
Best of all, they make their own ICE CREAM!!! I loved this. On top we had the Dark Belgian Chocolate, Pistachio, Caramel and Strawberry ice cream. I really loved the strawberry one, because it felt like I was eating strawberry cream. Yumm.
Thanks to Pamela (Micasa) and April for having us over. It was a pleasure getting to sample all the good food. We enjoyed every morsel.
