Kam Heong Coffee Shop, Teochew Duck Porridge,PJ State
Recently, we were looking for something light to eat, since we have been over indulging the past few weeks. Its starting to take a toll on us, so my dad suggested Teo Chew Porridge. Easy to digest, easy to eat. We heard of a good place in PJ State area, and decided to try our luck there.
We got there just before it started to pour. Its been raining awfully a lot these days. Managed to get a seat and placed our orders. As you can see, its the typical Teo Chew style cooking, where almost everything is braised. Braised Pork Knuckle, Braised Duck, Braised Tau Fu, Braised Egg….haha. These Teo Chews sure like braising stuff ( I can say that cause i’m half Teo Chew). (more…)
Claypot Chicken Rice, Restaurant Veng Soon,Section 1 (Old Town)
Having just recently bought The Star Street food guide, we decided to head down to Section 1 and see whether we can find any of the restaurants listed in the book . True enough, not long after entering Section 1, I saw the famous Restoran Veng Soon on one of the rows of shoplots.
On that particular evening, it was raining cats and dogs or better put, raining lions and wolves. It was a huge thuderstorm. We were lucky we got there before it poured. The place was packed, a good tell tale sign that we were in the right place. (more…)
