Sek Yuen Restoran
Sek Yuen has a long running history and has been run by several generations. Off the main road in Pudu, Sek Yuen still remains busy with plenty of locals. It was so packed with people in both outlets that we had to wait a very long time. It is best to arrive earlier or later than the peak times during dinner. There were several tables that were in the same situation and we were seated for almost 45 minutes before the first dish arrived.

Inside the restaurant
This used to be the place for weddings due to it’s large seating capacity. There are two outlets of Sek Yuen, with the newer one situated next to this one. The difference between the two is that the newer outlet has air conditioning. Between these two buildings you would see helpers running back and forth between the two outlets serving the dishes.

Big bowl of rice

Pei Pa Ngap
This is their famous Pei Pa Duck. I have to say that the skin is nice and crispy and it goes quite well with their sweet and tangy sauce. We were going try their Pat Poh Ngap (Eight Treasure Duck) which had good recommendation but unfortunately they sold out by 8pm.

Kai Lan with Siew Yoke

Fish Paste with Beancurd

Steamed Pork Ribs
The other dishes we had included steamed pork ribs which were tender and garnished with tomatoes, fish paste with beancurd and Chinese broccoli with siew yoke. Overall, it has a very nice vintage feel to it and it would be a good place to take visitors to.

They have a cold dish, jelly steamed chicken which is my favourite. Dont know if it requires advance booking. Must try the Eight Treasure Duck. Maybe just have the jelly chicken and the duck.Wow!
