Restoran Lou Wong Tau Geh Ayam Kue Tiau, Ipoh

Restoran Lou Wong

Restoran Lou Wong Tauge ayam kuetiau (Such a long name)

On our way to Penang, we of course stopped at Ipoh to try the famous Ipoh Sa hor fan. How could you not right? So we exited at Ipoh and slowly found our way to this place where it was packed with people. We knew we were at the right place.

FAMOUS in TOWN!!!

'MOST FAMOUS in TOWN!!!'

And we were right. After being seated, we saw this sign at the back of the shop ‘ THE MOST FAMOUS IN TOWN’.We placed our orders and excitedly waited for it to arrive.

Our food arrived and the portion was big. So big we couldn’t fit all into one shot. We ordered half a chicken for the four of us and a plate of tauge and also the ‘famous’ pork balls. We also ordered 2 plates of chicken rice and 2 plates of kuey teow soup.

We quickly dug into our meal. But we found it quite ordinary. The chicken tasted very fresh and so did the taugeh but other than that everything else was pretty standard. But it was a well worth try of eating Ipoh Sa hor fan in Ipoh.

    hey sue ann,

lou wong is the last shop one should eat nga choi kai in ipoh. their quality has dropped so bad in the last 5 years.

the shop directly adjacent to them, onn kee is not too bad, as their quality control is horrendous at times.

Cowan street nga choi kai near excelsior hotel opens randomly and their long queues are quite irritating. but you should try them if you like the chicken served cold instead.

you could try going to bercham for better quality nga choi kai nowadays.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the comment.

It looks like all the ‘famous’ places we went in Ipoh wasn’t so famous after all. =( LoL

We just followed the crowd, and also the sign at the back of the shop seemed to agree with our choice. But thanks for pointing it out. Next time we’re down in Ipoh we’ll find our way to the Cowan street place..and hopefully it’ll be open. Will probably have to get directions from you first though. =)

keke, lou wong used to be the best, till they decided to be more commercial based.

the cowan street nga choi kai is an acquired taste and not all will like its small portion. can point you to the ok ones in bercham too!

anything just sms grace or myself!

Hi Kevin: One of my futsal friends scolded me for going to this ‘tourist’ place… haha.

but we didn’t know it was a tourist place, we asked the guy from the Soya Bean shop near by where’ good to eat chicken rice and he pointed us in that direction…

We’ll take you up on ur offer if we’re ever down in Ipoh again! Thx!
