James Brooke was the first White Rajah of Sarawak between 1842 and 1868. Upon arriving in Borneo in 1838, he provided aid to the Sultan of Brunei who faced an uprising in one of the settlements. After bringing peace to the settlement, he threatened the Sultan with military force, and eventually was granted the title of Rajah of Sarawak towards the end of 1841.

Rajah Brooke Cafe brings flavours from Sarawak to Kuala Lumpur. Situated in Kuchai’s Entrepreneur’s Park, Rajah Brooke Cafe serves favourites such as Kolo Mee, Sarawak Laksa and their speciality drink, the three layer iced tea. The drink was rather sweet as they made use of Gula Melaka but nonetheless refreshing on a hot day.

The Kolo Mee here was not too bad, but just a tad too oily for my liking. The minced pork and char siew were mixed with the springy noodles and also served with a side bowl of soup.

Also, a favourite of mine is Sarawak Laksa, which I just could not resist upon seeing it on the menu. I still prefer the ones in Kuching, but I have to say that the ones here are done relatively well.

I saw this restaurant before as I always yumcha in Kuchai Lama Station One. Before that I won’t think of visiting this restaurant because the name of the restaurant sounds weird to me. Now I understand the food and drinks they serve, I’ll definitely give it a try

I went to try today and found that they have my hometown kacangma chicken and red wine yeast chicken rice! You should try. It rocks!

…i was very dissapointed with the food there… I had Laksa and my bf had the Kolo Mee… it tasted horrible… I don’t mind paying RM 7++ for a bowl of noodle, it’s just that the food is not worth paying for that price…. A Kuchingite point of view….
