Persia Restaurant is located in The Ampang Walk along Jalan Ampang and serves a mix of Iranian and local foods. Together with lunch time specials that offer a variety of local foods, we decided to try out their range of kebabs and dips.

Iranian Tea for Two (RM8) accompanies the meal very well and is typically served before or after the meal. The tea comes in mini tea cups as well as a nicely decorated tea pot. The tea itself is not too strong and as such it is lightly caffeinated.

The Kashke Badinjan is a dip of eggplant, kashke (which is some sort of thick whey), onions and other ingredients. As you can also see, there is a spash of oil. A different type of dip as compared to others such as Hummus; this dip made for a very good impression to start the meal.

The Barberry Rice with Chicken is the Persian Chicken rice. This is a specially prepared Persian style rice. The chicken itself comes with a gravy that has tomato based flavours and has a slightly sweet taste to it. You also have an option to sprinkle lime juice over the chicken to give it the extra tangyness.

The special kebab dish has portions of lamb, beef and chicken. As compared to the other items on the menu, this dish has chunks of meat as compared to minced meat. The lamb and beef were marinated in a light sauce and grilled to perfection. The beef portions that we had were very tender and as you can see from below, the exterior of the meat was lightly charred. It also came with a plate of rice. This dish also goes well with more of the bread.

Special Kebab
I had to take a picture of this cup of coffee. It has a very interesting design to it (the coffee wasn’t too bad either) and you have to grip the handle with your first finger and thumb.
