The Feedmelah.com crew were invited once again to taste a buffet spread specially designed for the month of Ramadhan. This time, Biba’s Cafe at The Mandarin Oriental.
Along with selected members of the press, we taste tested as many selections of the food available as possible. Good thing there were 2 of us spreading the load…
Experience the different types of cuisine at the hotel with an array of local and international favourites tailored to thrill the taste buds with lavish buffets and sumptuous set menus accompanied with the soft, gentle sounds of live gamelan music throughout the hotel.
Enjoy breaking fast as the sun sets at Biba’s Cafe and Cascade Restaurant & Bar, all of which will showcase their unique renditions of Ramadhan offerings.
We started the meal with some rose water and dates before tasting the larger items. This included a large selection of starters, from local to international soups, salads and cold dishes. These included:
Kerabu Pucuk Paku dengan Taugeh, Nyonya Piety, Ulam Kampong, Daging Salai Lemak Terung Pipit, Udang Sambal Petai, Ketupat Palas, Ekor Sapi Asam Pedas, Nasi Ulam Kampong, Dalca Tulang Rawan, Bubur Kaxang Perisa Durian, Lin Chee Kang, Tepung Pelita and many more Malaysian favourites.
There were some spicy chillies and pickled vegetables to add to your appetizers…
Not to mention the large selection of sushi, sashimi, cold prawns and crabs. Very appetizing.
They also had freshly made roti canai cooked right in front of you with a wide selection of curries to choose from to eat with it. Dhaal, mutton curry, beef rendang..
From the roast section, delicious roast beef sliced and eaten with the complementing brown sauce.
They also have a stall specifically for noodles with the garnishes at the front for your personal taste and selection.
Here’s a shot of my plate with most of the malay selections I could pile up from around the buffet. This was only round 1, there were many more rounds to come.
Round 2 was the western selection, including the roast beef from above, my own Caesar’s salad creation as well as a large serving from the whole cooked fish, which had a slightly spicy and tangy taste to it. Few bones and very meaty, one of my favourites for the night.
And of course, how can one go without desserts. A wide array of sweet tempting desserts was on selection that night, from cakes, kuih muih, pudding, fruits, you name it.
Just off the picture was the chocolate fountain and the home-made ice creams – which included banana, vanilla (with the vanilla seeds in it), green tea and chocolate.
This sumptuous dinner buffet is priced at RM92++ per person. The Ramadhan promotion for both Biba’s Cafe and Cascade Restaurant & Bar is only available for dinner from 7:00pm until 11:00pm. For dining reservations or more information, contact Biba’s Cafe at +60(3) 2179 8881.
