This is one of the famous hawker spots at night that is tucked away in a back lane. When it’s hidden in an alleyway, by the side of the road where cars pass by your table and the lighting isn’t fantastic, there’s bound to be some good food around. Behind Bee Seng Hotel and close to the Sime Darby building on Jalan Raja Laut, Ong Lai is famous for their steamed fish head noodles which is shown below. Filled to the brim with chunks of fish and thick noodles, you better eat it quick before the noodles absorb the tasty soup.
Something that we always have to order is their hor chien or oyster omelette. Keeping one eye shut on fried oily food, you will savour this dish.
The thick fragrant soup and noodles are complimented with the fish, which I have to say, have lots of bones. A lot of effort taken to eat this, but it’s well worth it.
