Planning on having a Christmas party or an open house this coming festive season? Well, why not treat your guests to some roast lamb, right from your backyard (or driveway).
Not long ago, I held a party at my house for my grandma’s 80th birthday and we decided to have some roast lamb instead of the typical fried bee hoon, curry chicken and fried rice dinner.
This is where Uncle Robert comes into the picture. He is with the 3K caterers and specializes in roasting lamb. Our party was to start at 630pm in the evening so he had to come in earlier to start.
By 3pm he came knocking with his lamb and roasting pit and started roasting…and roasting…and roasting the lamb, and, its hard work I tell you but all worth it in the end. Not long later, the smell of roasting meat will start wafting through the house and down the street tantalizing not only your taste buds but the neighbors as well.
By 6pm, while he was turning the lamb, people out for their usual evening walk start slowing down when passing my house just to catch a glimpse or a whiff of the roasting lamb.
And by 630 sharp, Uncle Robert began carving the lamb and laying out with mint sauce and brown sauce to serve. The lamb became the centre of attention, and not my grandma (poor thing) and the lamb was done to perfection. I’m not exaggerating here, the meat was tender and juicy and cooked just right.
He also serves hainanese chicken rice (roast/steam chicken) together with the lamb. Its kinda like a dinner package. All in all, the total cost came up to RM740 (Ex Chicken rice), which is not bad, considering the amount of meat we got and also his time roasting it.
So if you are having a party and in the mood for lamb. Here’s the number to call:

I wonder if you guys can recommend any other caterers with good roast lamb? Thanks.
Sue Ann, 3 years ago

Hi Jo, another caterer could be Banana cafe catering. They also have roast lamb. http://www.bananacafe.com.my

Tried them but unfortunately they’re having difficulty with their supplier. Anyone else you can suggest Sue Ann? Thanks ahead for this.

hmm..so far, i only know these 2 for roast lamb. The others don’t offer this service. Not sure whether euro deli has roast lamb, maybe you can call ahead and ask, but they will be non halal though. Hope this helps

Hi,
My eldest brother who lives in South America will be back in K.L. to celebrate NYE. Can you please recommend several really good catering companies that focuses on local Malaysian cuisine?
Sue Ann, 3 years ago

Hey Michael, there’s only 3 catering companies i’ve tried so far, 3K, banana cafe and mix cafe catering. For local food, I personally like both banana cafe and mix cafe. They have a good range of local food and very authentic and tasty. Mix cafe, they have an awesome assam laksa which you can cater. I use them almost every other year.

I just tried 3K roast lamb last week as recommended. When roasting, you can smell the aroma from a distance and when its done, the meat is really succulent and tasty. Hmmm…. mouth watering !!
Highly recommended !!
