Capricciosa Pasta & Pizza,Sunway Pyramid

Its been ages since i’ve been to Sunway Pyramid, years in fact. But last week we went to Pyramid to try out this new Italian outlet called Capricciosa and ironically, this outlet is brought all the way from Japan. Interesting fact huh. So at first, we were a bit skeptical, an Italian restaurant brand from Japan? Sure anot. But we were pleasantly surprised clip_image003

First up, we had the Italian Vegetable and Meat soup. The picture does not do this justice. This soup was one of the best I’ve ever had, and i’m serious. It’s rich and thick and is a result of a savoury blend of mixed vegetables, fresh cream and Capricciosa’s meat sauce. Oo heavenly. I was hooked.

Then we tried the Sicilian Style Rice Croquette which is actually a deep fried risotto ball stuffed with mozzarella cheese smothered in Capricciosa’s home made meat sauce. It comes as a giant rice ball, but when you cut it in half, the melted mozzarella comes oozing out..Cheese lovers this is the place for you.

After that we moved on to the pizzas, we tried the Quattro Formaggi aka four cheese pizza. Its just cheese after cheese after cheese. This was different from usual as they put cream cheese which gave it a slightly creamier texture.

We also tried their house speciality Capricciosa Pizza which consists of beef bacon, beef pepperoni, mushrooms and bell peppers.

Another dish was the a fusion dish, Whole Clams in a Delicate Broth. This had a chinese twist to it because it came in a bowl of clam broth. It felt abit like eating noodle soup.

There was also the Tomato Sauce with Garlic and Peppers spaghetti which was a simple clean dish. Comfort food.

We also had their Pappardelle with Porcini and Eringi Mushroom in Cream Sauce. I must add that the Pappardelle is handmade at their restaurant. There’s a little pasta making room up front where you can see the chef preparing fresh pasta.

Then there was the Calamari and Onions in Squid Ink Sauce. Not for the faint hearted and this is not recommended if you are going on a first date. Because it’s made of real squid ink, be prepared to have an extra layer of ‘ black lipstick’ after eating this. clip_image003[1]

Another dish that contributed to our Cheese-capade was the Eggplant Gratin. This was also one of my favourites give me this dish anytime. I will eat it. Yum.

Finally we reach dessert and activate tummy no. 2. We tried their Homemade Tiramisu and Pumpkin Pie. The tiramisu was light and didn’t give you that heavy after feeling and the pumpkin pie was very rich as the pumpkin filling was very thick.

While you are here you can also try out their Affogato Coffee. Knowing that I would not be able to sleep if I touched coffee I didn’t try one but from what I hear it is just amazing. It comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce and caramel and whip cream. Coffee lovers please try it.

Don’t remember specifically whether they had that, but you can go there and check it out. I haven’t tried kani spaghetti either and from the sound of it, it sounds pretty good :)
