Before reading your second post on Taiwan street food, I started to comment that I can see why you might not have experienced the "hype" of the food in Taipei. While you did try some good things - you missed so many others that really are the heart of Taiwan food in general. I've lived in Taipei for a year and I've been eating my way through the city and night markets as I'm a food and travel writer and there is so much amazing food. Even just last week, found 3 new amazing things at another night market that I somehow missed before!

It's interesting to read your take on pork ice cream - I literally just watched a show on Food Network last night "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and a very popular ice cream shop in San Francisco now makes a prosciutto ice cream which is one of their most popular items - a celebrity restaurant chef wanted it for his restaurant and the owner liked it so much, he serves it in the ice cream shop itself. I haven't tried the pork ice cream yet but I'd wager a bet that it's no where near as bad as stinky tofu! I don't care what people say, the taste is just as rotten as the smell!

You definitely need to schedule a return visit to Taipei and if you do, please let me know. I'd love to share some suggestions with you and perhaps you can do the same when I visit KL again. I was only there one night so no time to really experience the city.
