KL Is My Kryptonite

[Kuala Lumpur]

question Here at Feedmelah.com, I’m sure you’ve probably begun to see a trend appearing in our restaurant posts – mainly that they’re mostly in Petaling Jaya. With the exception of Steve, who used to live in the shadow of KLCC, the bulk of our food is found in Selangor.

Well that’s in no small part due to me being completely and utterly hopeless when it comes to finding my way around Kuala Lumpur city!

Sure, I can get to Bukit Bintang easy enough, maybe even to Jalans Pudu, Imbi or Ampang. But tell me to go further and I’m a gonner.

It makes it even worse that when I first came to KL just over 10 years ago, the roads in KL city were two ways, now they’re one way, sometimes leading in big round abouts around Jalan Imbi.

And unlike other major cities, KL is not built in a rectangular or square formation, rather it seems like it was made up as they built, ‘oh, we’ll put one new building there, maybe a shopping mall over here… what else can we add?’

But the thing is so much good food is found in and around the Golden Triangle area, probably hidden away down an alley somewhere and under some tin roofing.

Even Petaling Street has it’s share of tasty street food and I must confess, I’ve never once eaten there before… but I think I know how to drive to Petaling Street in general now, so things are looking up!

But fear not fellow foodies, I will conquer this weakness and who knows, maybe I’ll one day know KL city like the back of my hand?

Until they change the roads again that is…
