FT: Ah Cheng Laksa, Damansara Cineleisure
Edmund from Ah Cheng Laksa recently invited us to eat dinner at the Ah Cheng Laksa branch at e@Curve (formerly Cineleisure Mutiara Damansara) a while back to sample a few of his dishes.
Myself, Steve and Sue Ann were there as well as fellow blogger, Timothy from 3 Meals of Goodness.
It’s always nice to meet other people who have the same interest as us and admittedly, we’ve not done it enough… perhaps more in the future?
But anyway, back to the food. Edmund let us sample a few noodles dishes, some soup and some rice dishes.
First up, the herbal chicken soup. A nice clean tasting dish, with extremely large pieces of chicken in it to give us something to nibble on as we drank the clear broth.
Curry Laksa (above) and Assam Laksa (below).
I’ve always been a Curry Laksa fan myself, preferring the spicy, santan infused taste of a nice bowl of curry laksa and not so much of assam laksa. When we discussed this with Edmund, he said that typically women like assam laksa and men prefer the curry laksa.
The curry laksa we tried originated from a recipe far up North (Alor Star I believe) and hence had quite a lot of see-ham, santan and spice. It tasted pretty good considering the fact that you’re in a shopping mall outlet. Similar to plenty of good curry laksas out there, minus the heat and sweat.
Steve and Sue Ann enjoyed the assam laksa too.
Assam Fish, Rendang Chicken Nasi Lemak, Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak
Filling up quickly from the previous two dishes, we were presented with more food to try, this time consisting of some assam fish and two nasi lemak dishes.
The assam fish had a nice kick to it and the sauce went well with the two rice dishes, although I did prefer the rendang chicken to the friend chicken. It was more tender and again santan added to the falvour, making it not as dry as fried chicken.
Ah Cheng Laksa is a good alternative to driving out and looking for a street food version of their dishes, especially if you’re in the general vicinity of The Curve.
After all, who likes to sweat in their shirt and tie?
