Onde- Onde

A delicious Nyonya snack that I always must have when I go back to Malacca. This time I decided to try it on my own. A relatively simple recipe, but you need to get the texture of the dough right as well as know the technique to wrap the dough around the gula malacca.

Ingredients
Dough

200g Glutinous Rice Flour
160ml Cold water
1Tbsp of pandan juice
20g sugar

Filling
200g of Gula Malacca crushed

Coating
150g freshly grated coconut
Pinch of salt.

Method
1. Combine all the ingredients for the dough into a mixing bowl and knead until all ingredients come together to form the dough.
2. Divide the dough into bite size portion, approx 10g each and put in a tiny bit of crushed Gula Malacca.
3. Here's the tricky part.  Wrap each dough around the gula malacca and roll into a bowl.
4.Cook the balls in boiling water for a few minutes until the balls float to the surface.
5.Strain and pour it into a bowl of cold water.
6.When cool, mix it in with the grated coconut until fully  coated.
7. Eat!!
