Shuraku – Japanese Restaurant at Solaris Mont Kiara
By Steve at May 30, 2010 | 10:15 am | 1 Comments
Shuraku is a very interesting little Japanese restaurant. Knowing how I love my Japanese food, I really enjoy the food and the ambience in this place. Reminds me of home... if my home was in a small little village in Japan. They've managed to decorate the place with awesome finds. There's even a Hello Kitty artwork framed up along with other figurines and decorations. Well, if I was an interior decorator I would stop at that. But I'm not. So let's move on to the food! The sashimi (I always must have mine) is a fresh as it gets and you can see how I like...
Pork Noodles at Restoran Pomander, SS15 Subang Jaya
By Steve at May 23, 2010 | 12:43 am | 0 Comment
Ever have to wait half an hour to an hour for a bowl of noodles? At this restaurant, it might be a regular occurence. This is one of the best one places in Subang Jaya that serves pork noodles. During lunch time, expect nothing less but crowds of people waiting for their noodles. Each bowl of noodles is individually prepared and catered to your taste; kway teow, meehoon? egg, no egg? spare parts, no spare parts? The soup is very tasty, and its attributable to the tiny pieces of pork lard cubes thrown into the soup. I reckon though that there still is a fair bit of MSG...

My cousin being a pasta fanatic decided to come to d’italiane kitchen to celebrate his birthday. Situated in a corner in Jaya 33, the entrance to this restaurant from the shopping mall was a bit hard to find as you have to walk towards the village grocer before you see the entrance on your left. But from the outside, you could just walk right in. A simple layout with an open bar, it was a very easy going environment to dine in. The menu they had was pretty extensive covering a wide range of pastas which was quite impressive. My cousin ordered his...

Recently celebrating a friend's birthday, we had all decided to indulge in some Italian food, wine, and music all in one night. The interior has a warm feel to it and you see a mix of families, couples and friends enjoying the night. To start the night off, you get a nice plate of bread while you wait for the food to arrive We decided to share the starters (as well as the mains) so that we all could get a taste of the different dishes. The Insalata di pollo is a roasted chicken salad with half-boiled egg, tomato, spring onion, cucumber with creamy...

Fried Bee-Hoon, Fish head noodles and Oyster Omelette at Ong Lai
By Steve at May 2, 2010 | 2:36 am | 0 Comment
This is one of the famous hawker spots at night that is tucked away in a back lane. When it's hidden in an alleyway, by the side of the road where cars pass by your table and the lighting isn't fantastic, there's bound to be some good food around. Behind Bee Seng Hotel and close to the Sime Darby building on Jalan Raja Laut, Ong Lai is famous for their steamed fish head noodles which is shown below. Filled to the brim with chunks of fish and thick noodles, you better eat it quick before the noodles absorb the tasty soup. Something that we always have to order...
