Dengkil Seafood Restaurant

If you happen to be heading out to the airport or working in Cyberjaya/Putrajaya, this could be one of your stop overs for a bite to eat. On our way back from the airport, my family decided to give it a try. Here are some of the dishes we ordered that night. Their homemade tofu was delicious and one of my favourite dishes in the restaurant. Topped off with minced meat, and laden with a sweet soya sauce, this dish is perfect to share. The Tong Po Pork was the highlight for me at this restaurant. The pork is silken soft and layered with succulent fat. The...

T-Not Sarawak Laksa
By Steve at January 24, 2010 | 12:49 am | 0 Comment
One of the must-tries when you are in Kuching is Sarawak Laksa. Every time I make a trip to Kuching, Laksa (and Kolo Mee) is on the menu for breakfast. Having tried some of the Sarawak Laksa in Kuala Lumpur makes me miss the authentic, real taste that you can only get here. Even in Kuching, the Laksa is different from shop to shop. This one is refreshingly different. From the outlook, you would not be able to tell if it was a house or a shop selling Laksa. If it was your first time there, you probably would have to have someone local take you there (or find it by...
Taipei Delights and Food in Taiwan! Part 2
By William at January 20, 2010 | 10:00 am | 1 Comments
This is second part of the guest post by Jun Hoe, one of the cofounders of Snowflakes, located in Selayang Mall and The Sphere, Bangsar South. What is Snowflakes? Find out more here – http://www.meluvsnowflakes.com/ One of the most satisfying dishes I had in Taipei was this little set that consisted of a bowl of soup, some veggies and the Taiwanese version of Loh Mai Kai. But without the Kai. Whoever thought of putting minced pork on veggies is a genius. The soup was OK but the sticky rice was out of this world. The fact that they doused it with a yummy sweet...
Assorted Local Delights at Madras Lane, Petaling Street
By Steve at January 17, 2010 | 1:11 am | 0 Comment
In the hustle and bustle of Petaling Street, amongst the various peddlers and small stalls, Madras Lane is one of the many interesting eatery lanes in the Petaling Street area. Cutting through the fish and meat market we landed ourselves here on a hot Sunday afternoon to try out some of the Yong Tau Foo and other delights. As you step into this busy lane, you would notice that the stalls have allocated their patrons special seatings and competition amongst the stalls are hot! We had to switch tables to have a nice cup of cendol, yes, it comes in a cup too! A...

This is a guest post by Jun Hoe, one of the cofounders of Snowflakes, located in Selayang Mall and The Sphere, Bangsar South. What is Snowflakes? Find out more here - http://www.meluvsnowflakes.com/ A while back, me and some buddies journeyed to Taipei, Taiwan to experience for ourselves first hand, what the big fuss was about with Taiwanese streetfood. We stayed at a location that was about a 10 min walk away from Taiwan’s Central Station. The moment we arrived, we dropped our bags in the hotel room and rushed downstairs to start our 5 day long food tasting...
What Happens When You Mix A Japanese Game Show With Food
By William at January 6, 2010 | 10:00 am | 0 Comment
The art of 'Watermelon Half Pipe' is a lost art form only found in the oldest regions of Japan. OK that's not exactly true, it's more like something a Japanese gameshow will make its contestants do to get extra ratings. The aim? To stick a picture of a snowboarder on your face and smoothly eat the watermelon to make it seem like your snowboarded is doing a 'Watermelon Half Pipe'. Yeah, I know what you're thinking... why? Check out the video too: [via Serious Eats via Japan...
Reunion at Bangsar Village 2
By Steve at January 3, 2010 | 12:00 am | 1 Comments
This contemporary Chinese restaurant was recommended by a friend and we decided to test what he claimed to be the best KL Hokkien Mee around. Tucked away in a little corner in Bangsar Village 2, Reunion is a small restaurant with new age decor. I saw something on the menu which looked rather interesting and thought we should give it a try, Rosebud tea. It literally is what it says and is something different from the usual pot of Chinese Tea that you would find in most Chinese restaurants. This is their mix of Char Siew and Siew Yoke. I...
