Restoran Wong Kwong Chun in Setapak

By at November 29, 2009 | 12:00 am | 3 Comments

Miss having that restaurant with the olden days charm? Well, Wong Kwong Chun in Setapak is one of the older restaurants in Setapak that continues to serve good food till today. They serve an assortment of dishes and if you are not too sure what to order, they will be able to recommend some dishes too. The interior of the restaurant is littered with newspaper cuttings of the restaurant, teapots, and even coal-powered irons. Talk about a blast to the past. To start off the meal, they recommended the Heong Siew Ngap, or fragrant duck. The duck appears to...

Steam King Seafood Restaurant, Kota Damansara

By at November 25, 2009 | 9:00 am | 0 Comment

My parents found this place by fluke and quite enjoyed the food there. Hence second time round, they brought us there to try for ourselves. Steam king is situated in Kota Damansara, among the many restaurants there. Parking shouldn’t be much of a problem here, cause the lady boss books the parking lots in front of her shop, so just signal to her that you will be eating there and she’ll let you park right in front. Inside at the back of the restaurant, we are greeted with a 4 step tier of aquariums, teeming with live fish together with the price on each...

New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice, Jalan Gasing

By at November 24, 2009 | 4:11 pm | 1 Comments

New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken rice on Jalan Gasing has been around since I was a kid (not too many years ago – some say that' I’m talking about the present in fact) and is more famously known as ‘the chicken rice place next to Satellite chicken rice’. However, after the children of the original owner took over, New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken rice has gone on an expanding spree, with outlets all over the place -  including Mid Valley. I was recently at the one on Jalan Gasing and had my usual chicken rice fare the family, which includes, roast pork,...

Crabs in de Foodland at Bandar Sri Menjalara

By at November 22, 2009 | 12:00 am | 0 Comment

In 1999, the original establishment was opened in the industrial area of Kepong. Back then, the creamy butter crab was a hit and the owners noted the returning customers. Over time, de Foodland has introduced over 30 styles of crabs and continues to be enjoyed by old and new customers. In 2002, to accommodate for such growth, de Foodland shifted to their new premises in Bandar Sri Menjalara. They have also planned for the large crowds by attaining 2 shoplots with a larger seating capacity. Their Kung Po Mantis Prawn is a delicious treat as the meat has been...

By at November 20, 2009 | 10:00 am | 0 Comment

Japin was started by the Leows, a husband and wife team who had studied and worked in Japan for 6 years and who both had a passion for the Japanese style of cooking.  After coming back to Malaysia, the Leows decided to develop their very own unique concept which soon lead them to the opening of the very first Japin outlet in Penang in year 2002. Their first foray into the Klang Valley saw them open a Japin outlet in Sungei Wang Plaza in July of 2009. The whole Feedmelah.com team went for this food tasting, with each of us ordering a different bowl of...

Foie Gras Milkshake Anyone?

By at November 12, 2009 | 9:18 pm | 2 Comments

Foie Gras as a delicay, as a little pate on your plate when at a fine dining restaurant? Fine. Foie Gras in the pan, with only salt, pepper and lemon because you're Jamie Oliver? Fine. Foie Gras as a milkshake? Ummm... no. This funny clip was sent to me by Stan of 'Baking With Stan' and as usual, Charles Barkley is doing something stupid. Just this time it's with...

Kin Kin Spicy Pan Mee

By at November 4, 2009 | 10:00 am | 3 Comments

Holy Moly Great Balls of Fire! People may be used to hearing that saying, but Restoran Kin Kin in KL could probably get people to change it to ‘Great Pan Mee of Fire’ because the spicy Pan Mee here is no joke. Signs around the little restaurant, located on the same row as many car work shops and even a gun store, remind people that Kin Kin is the ‘original spicy pan mee’ and that ‘the imitation places are not the same’. The speciality of Kin Kin is their dry Pan Mee, which comes with a poached egg on the top and a bowl of soup with a few spinach...
