Food + Google Maps = Food Maps. Or is it Google Food?
By William at October 23, 2009 | 10:00 am | 2 Comments
View Larger Map Sorry we’ve been a bit lean on the food updates recently, but we’ll make it up to you, we promise! The reason that we’ve been so busy lately (and hence the lack of updates) is because we’re going through our entire database of posts and adding Google Maps to them. This will hopefully help people out there who get lost in KL (like me) or who would just find the map a useful bit of information. We’ve got another reason why we’re adding maps to everything, but we’ll fill you in on that at a later date… ...

By Steve at October 18, 2009 | 12:16 am | 3 Comments
Peranakan (Baba-Nyonya) are used to describe descendants from Chinese immigrants in the 15th and 16th century to the Nusantara region during the Colonial era. From the Malay influence, a unique blend of flavours emerged resulting in Nyonya cuisine that fully utilises the variety of Malay spices. Peranakan Place is a simple Nyonya restaurant that serves Nyonya food at a reasonable price. For starters, why not try their "Pai Tee" or Top Hats, which has a crisp bite and sweetness that is found from the turnips. The Devils Curry Chicken has its roots from...

Tanjong Sepat – another Kuala Selangor or better?
By Uncle Soon Guan (SG) at October 14, 2009 | 10:10 am | 0 Comment
" Uncle Soon Guan (SG) became a Chartered Accountant to avoid inheriting his father's business as a noodle vendor which gives only a tough life. He grew up with operators of all kind of street food (his father's friends), which has given him an extensive knowledge and love for the subject. " One of the several long drives we would take is along the coastal road down south of Klang towards Port Dickson. After Klang is Banting and Morib, another 40km south is a thriving fishing town called Tanjong Sepat. This drive is along a breezy not busy road lined with...

Restaurant Kuang Wah, Sungai Besar, Selangor
By Sue Ann at October 7, 2009 | 10:00 am | 3 Comments
Recently, I had the privilege to visit my dad’s hometown in Sungai Besar. Its about a 1.5 hour drive out from Petaling Jaya through the coastal road and is in the district of Sabak Bernam. As its name suggest Sungai besar is where the river mouth connects to the ocean. Hence, a good place to go for fresh seafood. So we found ourselves in Restoran Kuang Wah, which is being run by my dad’s ex primary schoolmate. Amazing how people still keep in touch. This restaurant is popular both among the locals and the tourists. A famous place for seafood as it is...
Moxie Restaurant & Bar – Steaks in Bukit Damansara
By Steve at October 4, 2009 | 12:00 am | 0 Comment
Having heard good reviews about this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. In the vicinity of Damansara Heights, Moxie is a two-story shop lot that caters to both small functions as well as the casual diners. Back in 1884 in the USA, Moxie was a carbonated soft drink which is now also the official beverage of the state of Maine. The word "moxie" has been integrated into modern American slang meaning "verve", "spunk", as well as "the ability to face difficult with spirit or courage". Now, with the food. For starters, we had the Ciabatta Platter (rm19)....
