Brunch at Jarrod & Rawlins – Sri Hartamas

By at May 31, 2009 | 12:00 am | 2 Comments

A little while back, a few of us decided to meet up for brunch, rather than for our normal dinner outings. This week, we headed to the Jarrod & Rawlins branch in Sri Hartamas. To start things off, we begin with one of the weekend specials which is available from 10am till 3pm. The J&R's Eggs Benedict "Indulgence" (RM28)  is comprised of two soft poached organic eggs with a choice of bacon, smoked salmon or ham on a slice of toast. This is then topped off with Hollandaise Sauce which is an emulsion of egg yolks, butter and lemon juice. Definitely, something...

We recently got  invited to West 57th Street Cafe on one faithful Saturday. We arrived at Parkson Pavillion around noon, our stomachs rumbling prepared for the meal that we were to eat. West 57th Street Cafe is owned by the brother of world renowned fashion designer Zang Toi who is now currently based in New York busy designing for the likes of Eva Longoria, Ivanka Trump and even Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. This cafe tucked in the corner Parkson in the Pavillion just exudes class and simplicity. A delicate and elegant decor, white walls...

Sek Yuen Restoran – Jalan Pudu Kuala Lumpur

By at May 24, 2009 | 12:00 am | 2 Comments

[caption id="attachment_3158" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Sek Yuen Restoran"][/caption] Sek Yuen has a long running history and has been run by several generations. Off the main road in Pudu, Sek Yuen still remains busy with plenty of locals. It was so packed with people in both outlets that we had to wait a very long time. It is best to arrive earlier or later than the peak times during dinner. There were several tables that were in the same situation and we were seated for almost 45 minutes before the first dish arrived. [caption...

Waiting 45 Minutes For Your Meal?

By at May 22, 2009 | 1:52 pm | 1 Comments

I went to eat at a new restaurant in Klang the other day, where the chef was known for his Ginger and Asam cooked Garoupa fish head dishes. However, because he had so many tables out and his chefs were new, it took 45 minutes for our food to come! Ok, so the food was good... But would you wait that long or would you have left...

Chawan, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru

By at May 18, 2009 | 11:59 pm | 6 Comments

Not too long ago, we met up with Shene and Jason at this place called Chawan on a Saturday. Parking was a killer, but we were lucky to get a spot on one of the roads. The logo of this cafe is so fitting, with the coffee mug stain on it, because this place is famous for their kopi from all over Malaysia. Its a very kopitiam cum cafe cum mamak kinda place but with a very minimalist vibe to it. You can come here for a meal, or for a snack or just to have kopi with your friends. It goes for all occasions. We ordered Mee Bandung Rm9.90 Keropok Lekor...

Pizzeria Bella Italia – Italian Food at SS2 Petaling Jaya

By at May 17, 2009 | 12:00 am | 3 Comments

This is a decent Italian restaurant with rather affordable prices. Pizzeria Bella Italia makes some good pizzas in this suburb that is packed with all sorts of restaurants. It is a simple restaurant with friendly service which attracts quite a few of the local crowd. [caption id="attachment_3078" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Pizzeria Bella Italia"][/caption] We started off with mushroom soup, which you can't go wrong with (especially since you don't get the canned stuff) as well as the bruschetta which had toppings of chopped tomatoes and some...

Feedmelah Travels! Babi Guling, Ubud, Bali, Uncle SG

By at May 15, 2009 | 2:39 pm | 2 Comments

" Uncle Soon Guan (SG) became a Chartered Accountant to avoid inheriting his father's business as a noodle vendor which gives only a tough life. He grew up with operators of all kind of street food (his father's friends), which has given him an extensive knowledge and love for the subject. " There are two traditional Balinese dishes one should not miss when in Bali – one is Babi Guling, roast pork and the other Bebek Betutu, smoked duck. The word Guling comes from the way the pig is being barbecued, by rotating it “ guling” over the fire. Many types...
