By William at February 26, 2009 | 2:07 pm | 0 Comment
Sorry for posting so infrequently the last couple of days, but my Internet connection and it seems the Malaysian Internet network has been running slow or dying completely the last week. Apparently Streamyx is having problems with their servers but that’s about as much information as I can get. Will start posting again when my Internet connection ‘heals itself’ if that ever...
Christmas Dinner, 2008?
By William at February 24, 2009 | 3:29 pm | 4 Comments
Yes it’s a very very late story (2 months late) about Christmas, but going through my old photos I realized I hadn’t done a post on our Christmas dinner at Steve’s house. First thing on the ‘Christmas’ menu was Zhong’s very special hand bought satay. You’ve never had satay for Chrismas? Well you should try it… it’s ‘different’. The feature meal for the night was this turkey we got from Vary Pasta. It wasn’t that big at 3.5kg, but it was more than enough for all of us there that night. I chose a turkey with bread crumbs and almond...
So You Own a Restaurant? Your’re a ‘Restauranter’ Right? Wrong.
By William at February 23, 2009 | 4:00 pm | 3 Comments
For those out there who own a restaurant, you'd think that you'd be referred to as a restauranter or maybe it's spelt restauranteur right? Well according to the dictionary, you'd be wrong. An owner of a restaurant is know as a: [Dictionary.com] Why is there no 'N' in restaurateur? Apparently it's because: Restaurateur is the noun created from the verb restaurer by replacing the -er ending of the verb with the -ateur ending for for a man (its female equivalent, restauratrice, only appeared in 1767) who carries out the action. Hence, no n. At first, he was...

Know What is Good Wan Tan Mee [Uncle SG]
By Uncle Soon Guan (SG) at February 18, 2009 | 4:00 pm | 8 Comments
I know what is a good wan tan mee as I have eaten it from the stall as the son of a wan tan mee vendor for close to half a century and have been an assistant to my father from young till late teens. Wan tan mee can be rated by its components making up of the soup, the noodle, char siew and wantan. In the early days wan tan mee does not have curry soup, it was either the dry or soup version. Also, the prawn dumpling or sui kow, roasted meats, mushroom and stewed chicken feet, stew beef, stewed pork ribs, dried curry chicken, prawn wantan and many other add-ons found...
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., The Curve
By William at February 17, 2009 | 4:00 pm | 4 Comments
It’s pretty hard to miss the gigantic neon sign for Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. whenever you’re at The Curve. Just walk down the street and you’ll see it flashing red and blue on the 1st floor. Just like flies being attracted to those UV lamps you find in restaurants, me, Sue Ann and my family went to Bubba Gump to give it a try. The restaurant is themed based on the Forrest Gump movie, starring Tom Hanks so you’ll see alot of Forrest Gump memorabilia around. To get the waiters to stop and serve you, they ask you to use the signboards above. ‘Run...

Pan Mee, Traditional Recipe Restaurant – Kota Damansara
By Steve at February 15, 2009 | 10:52 am | 7 Comments
Traditional Recipe Restaurant is known for their special hand made teared noodles (pan mee), so one afternoon we decided to give it a try. It is located in Kota Damansara, which can get quite busy especially during lunch hours. You would be quite lucky to get a parking spot just outside the restaurant, so usually we would park a little further walk. [caption id="attachment_1738" align="aligncenter" width="450" caption="Traditional Recipe Restaurant"][/caption] The restaurant is decorated with many wooden ornaments as well as newspaper cuttings on reviews of this...
